Impact of COVID and Violence on Children and Adolescent

COVID-19 and recent school events have tremendously impacted both children and their families. They lost their daily structure with school, and extracurricular activities were discontinued. Some experienced limitations in exercise and social communications were changed. These issues resulted in social isolation, anxiety, frustration, and disruption in child development.

Evidence supports that families and children shifted from higher-order needs to the basic needs of everything living. These populations have several priority areas to return to a higher level of functioning and reintegration into society with healthy development. Those areas include education, social communication, social activities, and developing coping skills. Thrivability Foundation, a nonprofit, aims to provide a solution within community partnerships.

It is crucial for individuals and society as a whole to recognize the  impact of COVID on mental health and to provide support and resources for those in need.
